All MagMod 2 products are compatible with the previous MagMod system. However, for the best experience, we recommend using each modifier alongside other modifiers of the same version. 

From the beginning of the MagMod 2 design improvements, our focus has been on crafting the absolute best design possible, period. While maintaining backward compatibility was a consideration, our main priority was introducing new features that enhance the system overall.

Here are the key updates:

Rigid Magnetic Gels

The most significant change in the MagMod 2 system is the introduction of rigid gels with embedded magnets, eliminating the need for a separate gel holder. 

These new gels are designed to be quicker and easier to use compared to the previous MagMod gels. 

However, please note that their rigid design may not be fully compatible with the original MagGrip, depending on your choice of flash.

Reduced Size. Reduced Weight.

Significantly lighter and more robust, with modifiers like the MagSphere 2 being 40% lighter than the original without any sacrifices to magnetic strength, light output, or durability. 

The new materials ensure that the modifiers can withstand rigorous use without losing elasticity or functionality.

Optimization for Round-Head Flashes

The original MagGrip was effective for a wide range of photography needs but designed primarily for rectangular flash heads. 

The new MagGrip 2 is optimized for both rectangular and round-head flashes.
