Are There Speedlights, Strobes, or Monolights That Aren't Compatible With the MagBox Pro Series?
Are There Speedlights, Strobes, or Monolights That Aren't Compatible With the MagBox Pro Series?
Almost any Speedlight that a MagGrip 2 will fit on can be popped into the MagRing 2 and it's ready to use with our MagBox Pro series. (See our list of MagGrip 2 compatible flashes) And when it comes to Monolights and Strobes, we continue to strive to make as many makes and models compatible with the MagBox Pro as possible with our Speedring Adapters.
But there are a few exceptions. And in the name of transparency and making things easier for our current and future customers we want to share a few models or lens setups that we've discovered won't jive with our MagBox Pros.
Elinchrom Quatra | This specific model is not compatible with the necessary Speedring Adapter for Elinchrom. |
Flashpoint XPLOR 600 Pro TTL R2* | *This model is compatible with the MagBox Pro series itself but, due to the length between the mount point and the end of the bulb, it is not compatible with the MagBox Gels. |
Godox AD200 Pro* (bare-bulb head configuration) | *The bare-bulb head configuration is not compatible with the needed MagRing 2. The speedlight head / round head IS fully compatible. |
Godox AD600 Pro* | *This model is compatible with the MagBox Pro series itself but, due to the length between the mount point and the end of the bulb, it is not compatible with the MagBox Gels. |
On certain models protruding bulbs may stick out too far to allow the MagBox Gels to be installed. Typically if the bulb extends less than 6 cm / 2⅓ inches (aprox) past the faceplate of the MagRing 2 or the mounting point of a MagBox Pro Speedring Adapter it will be fine. If you have any compatibility questions please feel free to reach out to us. We’re happy to answer them.
